Projects

Building Project

Our Church has witnessed in the past few years a tremendous membership growth due to the development of new townships in the nearby areas. This has put pressure on St. Cyprian's infrastructure. However, the aforesaid pressure is not only due to an increase in the church's membership. Over the years (pre and post 1994) St. Cyprian's has also funtioned as a venue of choice for many and varied community events.

Building of ‘Little St. Mary’s’ Activity Rooms

The much awaited Building Project of the Little St. Mary’s Activity Rooms at St. Cyprian’s has finally started with the digging of trenches for the foundation of the building. Much delay was caused by the awaiting of the Local Municipality to approve the architectural plan of the building. We have managed to acquire a preliminary approval to start working on the trenches and the ground floor of the building.

69 Days Home Based Care

Unfortunately this project has to be discontinued due to lack of funds. However we can bravely say this project has produced man and woman who are doing very well within their localities to help the sick and bedridden. See photo of the group that attended TB Awareness Campaign in the Sedibeng Region. How we wish to continue with this community uplifting project.

Project: Vegetable Garden

2008 has been a very good year in as far as Vegetable Garden is concerned. The Sharpeville Care of the Aged Centre partnered with us to embark on a very successful Vegetable Garden Project, which included vegetables such as spinach, cabbage, tomatoes, etc. We were able to feed the Aged at the Sharpeville Care Centre and we also sold some to members of the congregation and community at large. We hope to continue with this project.

Maintenance of the Church

During the year 2008, a major Refurbishment Project of the Church interior was embarked upon which included painting, roofing as well as tiling. The work was done through the funds raised by the congregation as well as the Mother’s Union which kindly gave us R17 000.

Outreach Ministry

Hope Africa ...The Province has an initiative called Hope Africa; this initiative has been established to help alleviate poverty within each Parish as well as its surrounding community through the form of donations of clothing and food. Our Parish embarked on this Project and many people within the Church and the community benefited from this initiative. We still are continuing to bring food and clothing every month per Guild in the Church.

Training

Our Parish sent 16 of our Youth, including two Sunday School members to a Training Session of Siyafundisa Project; this project is aimed equipping the Youth to train other Youth and children on such issues as HIV/AIDS, teenage pregnancy, STI’s, etc.
