Youth Service 2010

The month of June is observed as Youth month in commemoration of the young fallen heroes that protested on June 16 1976. One Sunday Service of this month is hosted by the Youth as a fitting tribute to the legacy of this day. The theme of this year’s service was ‘South Africa’s Workforce’ which was emphasised by the Youth wearing different attires/uniforms associated with different professions. The theme carried with it hope and courage, as the Youth reflected the career aspirations they aim to achieve through education, the right to which was fought for through the passion of the Youth in 1976.

For South African parents, June 16 is an emotional day as many reflect on the challenges that our Youth faced during the Apartheid regime and at present. It was a moving experience for parents in attendance to see their children confirming their commitment to education in the face of employment, poverty and HIV/AIDS of which the most victims are the Youth. These photos are highlights from the service.
