Ultimate Security

All human beings, in one way or another long for a sense of security. This security may be physical, emotional, psychological or even spiritual. Just look around wherever you walk, there are measures that are taken to ensure that there is some level of security; there is the security gate, the car alarm, the armed response unit, the electric fence, the high walls, the closed up personality, the over protective parent, money, success, a relationship, the list is long.
This simply means that we all acknowledge that we are vulnerable; we are in need of something else that can protect us beyond our own efforts, a place of comfort where we can feel safe, an anchor we can put our full trust in.
Some of the security measures are great, they work well; the house alarm goes off when there is suspicious movement, the money is there to pay off anything, and so it goes. The problem with our own measures of security is that they always rely on something else to be functional; they are not secure in themselves. What if the money goes or the electricity is cut-off or the significant partner wants to leave or the security guard sleeps on the job or the walls around our hearts are compromised or the parent(s) die? What if the security we have always looked towards starts to shake in its foundations? If nothing else, there will be pandemonium and eventual chaos, the world would collapse! There is the one security measure that will ensure maximum security anytime, all of the time; the security that doesn’t fail, that is secure within Himself, the Great banner that can cover us and secure us in all aspects. This security is not tangible but spiritual, unseen but evident, incomprehensible but knowable, does not sleep or slumber, is always fail-proof, this security is the almighty God – a mighty fortress that is unshakeable.
This security does not require a monthly fee, is totally free and available to everyone. All we need to do is call on the name of the Lord and He is faithful to heed our call and cover us under His wings. So then instead of putting our trust in physical things for security, let us all look toward the power of a great God for all our protection needs.
